Bonnieux:
This is a pretty part of Provence well known for vineyards, hillside villages with markets and generally well worth visiting in its own right. The Luberon extends roughly from Isle sur La Sorgue in the west to Apt in the east. The Wedding is in a village called Bonnieux in the middle of the Luberon, and the reception is in a small country house called La Bastide Rose, in Le Thor, a village just west of Isle sur La Sorgue and about 25minutes drive from Bonnieux.
In terms of where would be handy to stay –see the accommodation section below. In general, we (we’re thinking as one already!) liked Bonnieux village and Isle sur la Sorgue town. One is handy for the church, the other for the reception. Another option –for those who love a bit of history and only plan to stay a couple of days –is to stay in Avignon (20 minutes drive from Le Thor, 50 minutes from Bonnieux).
